The application of stainless steel monofilament in the textile field is a highly specialized and innovative direction.
Core-spun yarn: The most common form. An extremely fine stainless steel microfiber is used as the 'core,' wrapped spirally with traditional fibers such as cotton or polyester on the outside. This retains the functionality of stainless steel while giving the yarn the softness, comfort, and spinnability of traditional fibers.
The addition of stainless steel monofilament is primarily to impart the following major functions to textiles:
