Core material: What is meta-aramid?
Chemical name: Poly(p-phenyleneterephthalamide) in English. It is also known as Meta-aramid.
Most famous brand: The renowned brand from the United States, DuPont’s Nomex (Nomoeks). This is the most representative brand among meta-aramid fibers, to the extent that the industry sometimes directly uses “Nomex” to refer to this type of material. The well-known Chinese brand is Tahe Xincai’s Tairu.
Essential characteristics: It is a synthetic fiber that is inherently flame-retardant and resistant to high temperatures. Its flame-retardancy is not achieved through the addition of post-treatment additives, but stems from its stable chemical molecular structure itself. -
